Entering the Competition

What is the Project Showcase?

The HSJ Health & Care Intelligence Project Showcase recognises the tangible financial, operational, and clinical improvements realised through data-driven decision-making across the NHS. It gives attendees a platform to share why and how data is making a difference in how their organisation or system operates and inspire others to replicate these successes.

Who can enter?

Anyone working with or as a health and care professional with a relevant project which fits the criteria.

Criteria:

  • In every category, judges are looking for clear, well-evidenced projects, with the ultimate goal of delivering tangible improvements driven by data and analytics

  • Illustrative examples are given for each category, but projects are not limited to these examples.

Why should I enter?

Projects recognised will be showcased to over 400 national leaders, data analysts, senior clinicians, board-level operational leaders and technology partners at the HSJ Health & Care Intelligence Congress. Each category will have one winner and participants at the event will vote for the overall winner, which will be announced live at the event.

What are the criteria for a good submission?

Submissions should be no longer than 1000 words in total and cover:

  • Ambition – A brief outline of the problem and analysis of its causes
  • Outcome – The strategy for change, action taken and measurement of improvement
  • Impact – The effects of change(s) implemented
  • Lessons learned by the project team, and your advice to others (key success factors/pitfalls to avoid) looking to replicate its success
Can I enter into more than one project into a category?

No, unfortunately, you can only enter one project into one category. You can, however, enter different projects into different categories.

When is the deadline?

The deadline for entries is Friday 15 September 2023. Unfortunately, we cannot accept entries after this date.

Judging

What is the process for judging?

Step 1:

The judging faculty will select up to 5 submissions from each category for shortlisting, to be shared on the event app

Step 2:

The attendees at the Health & Care Intelligence Congress will vote on the app to decide the overall winner in each category – voting to open 48 hours before the Congress and close after the afternoon break at the Congress on 6 December.

The winner will be announced at the drinks reception at the end of the Congress.

What are the judges looking for?

In every category, judges are looking for well-presented projects that describe clear, well-evidenced projects that display the tangible financial, operational, and clinical improvements realised through data-driven decision-making across the NHS.

If I am unsuccessful, will I receive feedback as to why it did not meet the criteria?

No, in view of the number of entries we receive, we will be unable to provide feedback as to why your project was unsuccessful.

How will the overall winner be chosen?

During the HSJ Health & Care Intelligence live event, taking place on 6 December 2023, the audience will vote from the category winners via the app,  and choose the Overall HSJ Health & Care Intelligence Congress Competition Winner.
